Just as every person is different, every website is also individual. It has to be if it is to truly reflect your personality or the nature of your business. If you’re feeling brave you’ll soon master the idea of how to create a website that will reflect all your needs.
The first thing to settle on is your layout. It’s important to choose the right one because it is the basis of the rest of the site. You’ll have to decide whether you want your Menu to go along the top of the page, or on either side. At this point it’s necessary to fix the colours too. Images will need to be positioned and space allocated to them on your layout.
Design yourself a good “Header”. This will remain at the top of the page and will stay the same right through all the pages of your website, so it’s important it simply, but effectively, reflects your business (or title). Choose your Menu pages next. The Menus can be spread across the top of the page and include words such as “Home”, “About us/me”, “Contact”, “Prices”, “Products”, “Booking” etc.
Decide if you would like to include “forms” on your site. Will you require customers to fill in anything? Also be sure to create “linked pages”. Once the visitor has clicked they will be transferred to a page offering even more information. This can be very useful.
Finally think carefully about your images. Make sure each and every one of them truly reflects the corporate or personal image you want to portray. Finally write the text making it clean concise and to the point without waffle and include ‘call to actions’ – then you’re ready to publish!
